G650 vs G700- Who would win?

G650 vs G700- G650 aircraft flies through the sky

At the beginning of the week, Gulfstream announced their new G700 business jet. This has led to many businessmen to ask the question “G650 vs G700?” Which is best for me?

G650 vs G700?

G650

The G650 was the flagship aircraft of the Gulfstream company. The G650 has a range of 6,997.8nm, combined with a cruising speed of 0.925 Mach.

The G650 comes with many luxuries as standard, including a full bar, a full kitchen, a variety of entertainment features (including high speed internet), a TV set, and satellite telephones. Gulfstream designed the G650 in such a way that it can land at large airports, but also small airports or those with noise restrictions.

Gulfstream has also released a loner range variant called the G650ER (Extended Range).

But what are the selling points of the G650?

  • The standard G650 variant costs $69.5 million, and the G650ER costs $73 million
  • Customisable to your wishes, should you want a bedroom on board, you can have a bedroom, and if not, you can choose what you would prefer
  • The G650 holds 19 seats for passengers
  • The G650 is quite a light aircraft which allows it to take off from most airports and airstrips, which is obviously quite appealing
  • The G650 has a quite high flight ceiling, at 51,000ft.
  • Fast and sleek, the G650 is quite fast for a business jet, with a cruising speed of 0.925 Mach. The G650’s design is quite sleek and very modern, in order to be the most aesthetically pleasing and the quickest possible
  • The G650 has extended range compared to other business aircraft at 6,997.8nm, the G650ER has a range of 7,500nm

G700

The G700 is the new flagship aircraft of Gulfstream. The G700 has a standard range of 7,500nm with a cruising speed of 0.925 Mach.

The G700 has many luxuries such as 5 living spaces/compartments, a full kitchen, a full bar, in flight entertainment, high speed internet, satellite phones and a TV set. The G700 too is also designed in such a way that it can land at large airports, but also small airports or those with noise restrictions.

What are the selling points of the G700?

  • The standard G700 is expected to cost $76 million, with possible future variants expected to cost upwards of $80 million
  • Customise all five compartments of the G700 to your wishes
  • The G700 will be equipped with 19 seats for passengers
  • The G700 is even lighter than its G650 predecessor, which means it can go from either noise restricted or non-restricted airports
  • The G700 has quite a high flight ceiling at 51,000ft
  • The G700 is quite a fast jet with a cruising speed of 0.925 Mach. The G700’s design is meant to be quite sleek as to make it as fast as possible and as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
  • The G700 has an unparalleled range at 7,500nm with an expected G700ER expected to have a range of over 8,000nm.
  • The G700 has more room than the G650, with 5 compartments compared to only 4

G650 vs G700- who wins?

To answer the question “G650 vs G700?” it’s really about what the jet will be used for, if it will be used for comfort and business, the G700 hands down, but if it’s for just business or just comfort, the G650 is the aircraft for you

Personally, I would choose the G650, even though I would use it for work and for comfort. This is because I simply don’t see the point in paying an extra $2 million for not a lot (assuming I bought the G650ER). However, I would have to wait another 12-18 months (or even longer) to see the final designs and first aircraft to make that final decision on which I would prefer.

I hope you enjoyed this article on the G650 vs G700- who would win? I’m curious, do you agree with my answer to the question of “G650 vs G700?” If not, what is your reasoning behind that?
